This vineyard is located on the boundary of Blenheim township, on a beautiful north-facing slope that ensures the fruit gains extra richness and flavours move more into the tropical fruit spectrum.

Perry and Stephanie Gilbert who own and manage the vineyard live right on it and the hands-on attention that is lavished on this block helps ensures that the fruit is maintained in pristine order. Also, as it is only planted in Sauvignon, requirements are focused solely on the one grape, making it easier for timing of shoot-thinning and all vineyard tasks.

The soil in this southern valley is wind-blown loess soil which really adds to the palate, which is rich and full with great length. We usually make this into a single-vineyard wine as the texture is to die for and being from such a distinctive parcel it fits perfectly with our goal of showing the differences within the Marlborough region.

The 2007 Boundary Farm was a relatively emotional wine for us all as it was the first fruit that arrived at the winery once we owned it. As it arrived the refrigeration decided to blow-up, so we ran most of it to barrel, helping us decide what we should do with such lovely fruit.
