Marlborough Pinot Gris 20184 stars   The 2018 vintage is a single-vineyard wine, hand-picked near Ward, in the Awatere Valley, and mostly handled in tank; 10 per cent of the blend was barrel-fermented. It is fermented to dryness (2 grams/litre of residual sugar) ‘to produce an elegant, rather that soapy, palate.’. Freshly scented, it is lively and mouthfilling, with youthful, citrusy, spicy, slightly peachy and nutty flavours, showing a touch of complexity, and a crisp finish.  Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 20185 stars – Listed as Potential Classic Drinking superbly in 2019, the 2018 vintage was grown at seven sites, principally at the western end of the Wairau Valley, and mostly handled in tanks; the ripest, hand-harvested fruit (11 per cent of the blend) was barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts. Pale lemon/green, it is a freshly scented, weighty wine, with ripe tropical-fruit flavours to the fore, a herbaceous undercurrent, good complexity, and excellent intensity, delicacy and poise.
